Share Your Cool Decor Touches Part 11

That's very nice! I love it! I might try to do something like that in my kids room or playroom...very neat! I love that paint color as well. Which brand if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks!

I just went and grabbed the paint card. We got it at Lowe's. The brand was Olympic and the color is Pumpernickel (D18-6). We got just 1 quart of High Gloss and it was MORE than enough paint. We did a tinted primer coat (they tinted it a gray color since it was a dark brown) and then two coats of the brown paint. The frames were at Michaels. The ones you see that have kind of rounded edges - those did NOT come with glass in them. We were able to get some glass cut to fit at Lowe's for $2.00 out of scrap glass they had.

LOL okay so like I said I've been just going all day - well I have to have these papers near my phone with numbers on them for daycare. I sort of just had htem stapled up behind my computer deska nd it looked annoying and cluttered (even though it was only 3 papers. Anyways I framed them. LOL Now it looks neat and professional - I just want to paint the frames black now then I'll post pics. I'd hate to do the inbtween pics - I wanna show the finished product. LOL

Speaking of desk I have a lot of little paper piles....one with offers or bills needing to be shreded....papers I need to keep on hand for various reasons...I want to find something cute and fuinctional to put on my desk that'll hide them. Maybe some cute rectangle shaped bowes will do...hmmmm. Well I'm off to the Office Store tomorrow for items fo rmy sons homework centers (they are making them) so maybe I'll find something there for it.

I am absolutely loving this thread! I have been out of the loop for almost two weeks since we were in the process of moving (North Dakota to Alaska) so I was thrilled when I saw this started! We move into our new house tomorrow and I am soooo excited to decorate! I have so many ideas thanks to you all! We won't have our household items for another week or two so I have plenty of time to paint! YAY!

I bought this bedding for my dd before we left http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=25436&CatID=41084&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=13fa957&ProdSeq=14&Cat=bed+in+a+bag&Dep=Bed+%2b+Bath&PCat=girls+room&PCatID=28920&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=14&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=CategoryAll%252Easpx&RefCatID=28920&RefDeptID=25436&Page=99&CmCatId=25436|28907|28920|41084&mscssid=67e260671dbde4ab2aebf3df993302272xMnVNoV5a1WxMnVNoV5a1o200B2E094FE080074DA80A68F9311E2FE6980808405
I'm trying to decide what color(s) to do the walls. Any suggestions? I was thinking 3 yellow walls and one of the pinkish color then stencil some flowers all around in all of the colors but don't know if I know what I'm doing! Her room is a nice size and has nice windows so it can handle some color in it.

I think the new board sounds awesome! I'm going to need lots of great ideas to keep me going in our house!

Mabel, hope your move went ok. we just moved last summer and it can be stressful moving far (we went from Florida to Colorado). Anyway, I love the set you bought for your dd. It is so cute. IMO, I would paint some of her room green (but i love green). I really like the color of green that is in the set.

Make sure you post pix of your stuff you get done!

OK, you all have such beautiful homes and such great decorating sense, I am wondering if I can get some opinions on a few different things I am working on.

We just painted our family room (and the long wall that runs from our family room through our breakfast area and into our kitchen) Harvest Brown (thanks PP who used that color!). I am going to paint the two shorter walls in our kitchen a deep red color. What I am having trouble with is what color to paint the hallway that runs from our entryway to our breakfast area.

PhotobucketPhotobucket The first picture is the view from the front door, and the second is from the breakfast area toward the front door. We are planning to paint the living room a light yellow, and the front door is on that wall. So if we paint the hallway the brown, then it will meet with the yellow front door wall. If we paint it yellow, then it will meet with a red kitchen wall. So I'm not sure what to paint it. Thoughts? Second is the area above my fireplace. I think it needs something tall in the back, but I'm not sure what. I can't hang anything up since it's a corner, or I would put one of those big clocks. Ideas? Photobucket Next are the four windows running along the back of my family room. We back up to woods, so it's a very pretty view and very secluded. We don't want to cover the windows themselves if we can help it, but it definitely needs something to frame it. I like the idea of a curtain rod running the length of all 4 windows, but I'm not sure what to put on it, since I don't really want a valance covering up the tops of the windows. I also thought of those big things (kind of like knobs) that you put up in between each window (I don't know the name) and then you put a drape/scarf across, tying them on to each knob-thing. Wow, what a terrible description!Photobucket Lastly, I bought these wooden words for above my cabinets last week at Hobby Lobby (50% off). Do they look good or bad? I want honest opinions-I can still take them back! The wall with "Family" on it will be deep red. Photobucket Sorry for the novel-thanks in advance for any opinions and ideas! Jana

Sorry the pictures are sideways-I keep trying to turn them and it won't work!!

Lisa (BaloneyH),

Are you the one I was emailing with about the Boulder County area last year? If so, I was just thinking about you recently and wondering where you ended up. I think you were thinking about Erie.

If it's not you... nevermind...

This is what I have done for my office papers that I want easy access to. I bought an incline sorter ($4) and some cute file folders ($5 for 12) and I have them in a cubby on my desk hutch.

I have one labeled for each of our family members, one for incoming papers to file in my drawer, and one for "action" or things that I need to do something with (RSVPs, sites to look up, phone calls, etc)

IMG_1947.jpg picture by kimberly2504

*** The reason it looks so messy is because I just went through a ton of old papers. Normally, it looks nice and neat and you cant see the paper in the files.

And jana616- I like the words above your kitchen counters!

jana616: I love that harvest brown color! Here are my suggestions:

Paint the angled wall in the 2nd picture the same color as your living room and then paint the longer wall with the door the same color as the family room - Harvest Brown- that way you won't have the yellow wall meet the brown - make sense?

If you really want a big clock above your fireplace there are several options 1.get a corner shelf - paint it the same color as the wall and then put the clock on it - you'll need to secure it so it leans agains the 2 walls that make the corner but won't slide off the shelf. 2.see about hanging the clock from the ceiling -- not sure what that would take though. 3. What if you made your own clock on the wall with the clock parts? you could put the hands on a piece of wood with a flat front but that angles into the corners - paint that piece of wood the same color as your wall so it wouldn't show but so the hands had a flat place to be secured to.

For your curtains I would do a substantial rod (a relatively thick one) and then do panels on each side of the set of windows -- you could make the rod longer than the windows so you don't "loose" the windows behind the curtains.

3 Questions for you fabulous women! We're moving into our new home in 3 weeks and I'm trying to plan it out already..

1) This is the bedspread I bought for DD.. The trim in her room is a light wood and we are planning on buying new white furniture for it.. How would you paint it? Any creative ideas or pics for inspiration?? DH does not want it all hot pink or lime green..

Photobucket

2) I can't find a pic, but I have 2 big round metal decorations from Pier 1 that I don't know what to do.. Anyone have them up on their wall?? I LOVE to see pics, it's so much easier to visualize!

3) I'm trying to go more contemp/modern with our decorating and LOVE these canvas art that I found online, but they all seem to be in the UK.. Does anyone know any sites that sell them here?? Here's an example of what I'm talking about..

Here's what we just did to our shower in the master bath. It's a European frameless design. I don't have any before pics, but it was the brassy trim with an obscured glass. I'm really loving this new look! Next we're going to paint (probably a nice chocolate brown) and take the rest of the brass out of the bathroom.

And here's the GINORMOUS mirror I keep complaining about. Putting in 2 framed ones will be a huge improvement.

Alright - I have my photowall finished - but now what in the world do I do with the rest of the room??? The living room wall is really big and I don't know what else it needs! I am scared to put MORE pictures up because I don't want it to be overwhelming. I considered big plants in the corners but those are really pricey and my kids tend to destroy things. silly Also there is no overhead lighting - the tall lamp is plugged into an outlet that is controlled by a lightswitch but I suppose it can be moved if necessary. So what do you decorating divas think my next plan of action should be???

In your family room I would hang a curtain rod above the windows (almost at the ceiling) and the whole length of the windows.

You don't want privacy so I would hang 2 panels on either side of the windows and a valance above the windows that stops right at the window and it wouldn't obstruct your view.

It will make your windows look larger too.

For your fireplace you could get a large floral arrangement or even some sticks in a vase. You could also just lean a clock or art piece instead of hanging it.

Janine-I love what you did with your shower....we have the same kind layout in our master bathroom and I really dislike our shower (too much chrome and the glass is water spot stained from the previous owners and I can't get the stains off)....can I ask how much putting something like that in cost you? If that's too personal, I completely understand.

Also-I LOVE the towel holder that you have above your towel rack that has the towels rolled up on it....where do you find it?

Thanks so much!!!!

I love the frog bedding and am considering it for dd's newly painted room! love It's on clearance for 50% off right now at JCPenney.com

Product Image

I personally would paint it green. happy Butterfly and frog artwork is available everywhere for little girl's room now, and I bought my pink gingham curtains on eBay for arond $10 new in package.

The bedding is a knock-off of the Pottery Barn Kids 'Flamingo' bedding in this RateMySpace photo:

I also saw a pink and green quilt VERY similiar to these at Ross the other day for $16.99. It had a Kohl's pricetag of $108 and looked to be very good quality.

Here is dd's room so far. I painted a few days ago and found a Waverly shower curtain for $6.99 at Ross to use as a curtains. It goes with her bedding and accesories perfectly, but I also have her old pink gingham PBK curtains in case I decide to go with a new quilt. cool The lighting was bad last night, but the green paint is closer to the Rate My Space flamingo pic, not as "limey".

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Here bedding fabric is almost identical to this Waverly fabric which is in the same line as the pink and black curtain fabrics:

I would paint all the walls the same color. Either the yellow or the lighter pink. All that white, with white furniture, will really pop against the color!

FeatherButt-

Is that the Nicole Miller Fifi bedding that you have on your DD's bed? The one with poodles and the Eiffel tower? I've been contemplating that for YDD and wonder how it has held up. Do the pom poms stay on well? Is it a quilt or a comforter? I prefer quilts but can find only a comforter in that print. TIA!

Yes. happy She loves it. It is a comforter set. I prefer the look of a quilt, but the price was awesome. The pom poms are holding up well. I haven't machine washed the comforter yet, but I've washed and dried the pillow sham many times and only one pom pom has fallen off. I'm still debating on whether to complete the look with the Nicole Miller pink pin striped sheet set and scooter pillow, or go with a new pink and green quilt set.
Here is a close up of dd's actual bedding, much bolder colors than the catolog pic shows. She also has some hot pink throw pillows on her bed and a pink and green french memo board on the wall.

I'm still going through the posts so forgive me if this has been mentioned...

I don't have a girl, but when I was younger (and had long hair lol) my mom had a little shelf with pegs on it, and I would put all my elastics/scrunchies on that. I found this one on a super quick search at target.com, it's $30 but I'm sure you could get something simpler or even an unfinished one at like Michaels or Hobby Lobby and just paint it to match your bath decor. Then just hang it low enough for DDs to reach, like over the toilet.

Jennifer,

Thanks for the compliments on our new shower! We did it out of necessity because the old one was leaking just a little into the basement. We're still not sure if it was a cracked base, bad grout, or what. But DH retiled the lower portion, put in a new base and then we hired a glass shop to do the enclosure. We got wildly varying estimates. The one we went with was $1200. The highest we got was $3800! We know we got a really good deal. You would want to get at least 3 quotes. I think we got 4.

As for the towel rack (which I love!), I got it at Pier 1, but it was quite a few years ago, like 5 or more. It's a great thing!

anyone have a genius idea of how to get my caulked on towel bars/toilet paper holder off the walls in our bathroom? i HATE them - they're cheap and ugly. replacing them would be a great way to make the master bath a little bit more "master bathy" :). i've tried using a knife to cut through it... can't make it work.

Oh here is one of the top of my DVD stand - it previously had a ton of daycare craft and activity books on top and just looked - UGH. So I finally had the bright idea to move them onto a high shelf in my playroom (Can we say DUH!). Here's how it looks now. (oh look you can see a newly painted chair peeking out - we're still waiting on our table to be finished then I'll show you that. )

Here is a fun way to show of your favorite candid pictures. I took a 4x4x8 cedar post and had it cut into 4x4x4 blocks. Stain the wood block whatever color you want. I have some black and brown and my mom used a white wash on hers that looked cute. I just used watered down acrylic paint and wiped it on. Glue your pics to each side and Mod Podge over the top. On on side I used scrapbooking decals to add a phrase or message. You can see the "Laugh" on the second pic. I stacked a couple of these on a shelf in my foyer and get compliments on them all the time

Photobucket Photobucket

Here is another one of my favorite things. I bought a bunch of different size frames at the Dollar store, painted them all black and added vinyl lettering to the glass. I plan to add some family pictures around it but haven't gotten to that yet. :)

bristling acres - I think you're talking to me. happy I took out all the "guts" of the frame but left the little metal things that hold the picture in. I just bent them back on themselves to hold the glass and so you can't see them from the front. Does that make sense? If not I can post a pic of the back - just let me know.

I have a friend with a machine. happy I know you can order individual letters from just about any vinyl distributor, though, just google vinyl letters. I have had several requests for the sizes but I haven't had a chance to get to that just yet. I will try and measure them tonight and post them. Feel free to use a copy of my pic to show anyone you might order lettering from. This is actually a pretty popular thing in my area and I've seen it on some websites. That's where I got the idea, except mine cost about $12 total - vs $40-75 other people wanted. shocked

I bought some round, metal-looking alphabet tiles in the scrapbooking department and hotglued them to flat tacks/pushpins. Here's a picture, which I posted earlier. Not too exciting, but it's as crafty as I get.

So you took out the backing and just left the glass to put the vinly letter on. Did you glue the letter on? Then you just used the hooks what ever you call them on the back to keep glass from falling.

Ok so I am going to jump in here....My house is about 60ish years old and I have metal cabinets in the kitchen that are all chipped up on the outside but work great. Does anyone know if I could paint them and how? The finish on them is very glossy, which I love. They are kind of an off white and I would like to paint them a bright white. Can I use spray paint? Would I need to take the doors off. I am not sure if they even do come off. What about the drawers? I just want to paint the outsides. The insides are in pretty good shape. Would this be a huge undertaking? I have a toddler and an infant so I don't want to get in over my head.

Thanks, Jen

Anyone ever done vinyl letters with antique plates? I collect blue willowware plates and I would love to find a great saying to put up around my plates in the kitchen.

My project for today was starting my photo frames for kitchen pictures. I bought a couple of cheap wooden frames at the thrift store for .50 each, I spray painted them black and got some pretty yellow printed scrapbook paper to use at a mat. I printed out some black and white pics of my kids in the kitchen (licking the cookie dough spoon, playing in bubbles in the sink) and when the frames dry I'll put them in and hope they look as good as I'm expecting.

And now I need some help from you ladies. I found an awsome poster that I want to hang above my tv but I need a frame for it. It's an odd shape because it's so wide and when I called around to get one made the cheapest was $100! That's way too much. So can anyone tell me how to make my own. Please!

I'm not sure if anyone has answered you yet. When I wanted to get something framed similar to the size you have, I went to World Market or something similar and just bought a cheap framed picture the size I needed. Then I riped out the picture and took the frame to Micheal's and had them mat and frame it for me in my frame. So what would have cost me over $100 ended up costing me about $30. HTH

summerdays, i have two browns that i love. i painted my bedroom laura ashley taupe 4 (got it at lowe's) a few years ago. whatever you do, do not get taupe 3, my bff and i both made the same mistake, it looks like flesh, it is awful irl no matter what it looks like on the chip. the taupe 4 looks too dark on the paint chip but great on the wall.

i just painted my kitchen benjamin moore pony brown. it looks AWESOME. when wet, it is the color of melted milk chocolate (or poo as dh called it, lol). it might be too dark next to your white cabinets, though. the taupe 4 definitely does look good with white, i have white trim in my bedroom and its a great contrast.

gl. i love using browns. they look so cozy.

I wish I knew how to post pictures . . .

I need kitchen help! I have white kitchen cabinets that are quite nice, the soffet above them that is currently vertical striped (dark blue and white wallpaper), and the biggest problem ----- sky blue counter tops! The previous owners painted the backsplash a country blue. I did paint over the stenciled blue hearts on the wall. ACK! (Just not my style.)

Another problem . . . the floor is linoleum. Unfortunately it's in great shape. LOL. It's white with blue squares. The squares are darker blue but lighter than navy.

Any ideas what to paint all of these things? I'm going to take down the stripes wallpaper and want to get rid of the country blue.

Our budget at the moment does not allow me to get a new countertop, although eventually (3 years?) it will be new along with a pergo floor, which will help things out tremendously.

What to do? I just can't stand it as it is. I was thinking about painting soffet and back splash the same darker blue that would match the flooring, but I'm afraid it will look too boring.

Thanks in advance! I love this thread.

Is there any way I could see pics of your brown rooms? I'm getting more and more brave to do a darker brown.

Thanks!!!

Thinc,

What about something in the brown family? (I'm into browns) happy

You can paint over the backsplash again, right?

Maybe just try to match a brown/tan to your floor and countertop?

You are so lucky to have those cabinets!!!! I LOVE that style!

I believe it is difficult to refinished based on what I've read. I think it needs to be redone as if they were cars. I read somewhere that this lady took hers to an auto paint finishing place and they painted them. Do you know anyone who does this type of painting? I honestly wouldn't attempt them myself and I've been know to paint a lot of stuff over the years.

We had 50s metal cabs in our old kitchen. The "thing" to do with them is spraypaint them. Ours were in great shape, so we left them alone... but they are very common around here and eveyone just takes them down and spraypaints.

I love yellow and blue together so maybe try some yellow to make a nice bold splash of color in the kitchen. Either paint the soffett yellow or use yellow in your decorating-lemons in an apothocary jar are popular on this thread!

I like the brown idea too. That would help to downplay the blue a bit.

To the pp with blue countertops. I posted the same question on the other board. We have turquoise countertops (we live in a Florida 50's bungalow), which have actually grown on me! Our dining room flows right into our kitchen and we painted that a really nice light brown. I was trying to figure out which color to paint the kitchen, and Wiggles and Gumballs suggested either a yellow or a khaki color. Dh and I are going to go look at paint colors today!

What do your counter tops look like? Are they original? I would love to see them. We live in a 1950's small ranch and we're redoing the kitchen right now and I'm trying to use some original touches.

Not sure if anyone is still looking for apothecary jars, but I found the ones that were posted about here in Kohl's. My Kohl's had them clearanced for $3.99 (orig. $39.99). They are filled with Christmas stuff (pinecones, pine needles, etc.). I bought three of them in two different styles for $11.97! They are "elements" brand and my store in NJ had tons left in the decor clearance section.

They aren't much to get excited about. The countertops are not original. They are just cheap laminate. happy

But like I said, we are in FL, so with the character of our house and our neighborhood, we can get away with the color!

To the PP looking for a good color brown, I love Toffee Crunch by Behr. I did that color in my dining room and my boys' bathroom.

It is sort of on the darker side, but it's really warm and cozy. I love brown/green and brown/blue combos.

My only contributions at this point are...

1. I bought a bathrobe hook from Anthropologie Hung it beside my bathroom mirror and hang my necklaces from it.

2. I needed storage for my kids blocks and didn't feel like going out and spending money. So I got a cardboard box, painted the inside and used fabric from a crib sheet that ripped to cover the outside.

3. Loreal used to have face lotion that came in frosted glass jars (I'm not sure if they still do). Well after the lotion was gone I would clean out the jars and I put two of them on a shelf in the 'kids' bathroom. One holds small clips and the other holds small rubberbands.

Now my questions. I want to cut out large (8x10) letters from paper. I want the initail of each of my kids and then I will hang their artwork below it. I don't want to buy stencils, so how do I get font that large on my computer and turn it into an outline? Do I just have to print it at a smaller size and then take it to a copy place to enlarge?

The color is Red Red Wine by Behr. It's actually a bit darker than it looks on camera. I have a huge bay window right across from that wall and I took the pic when a ton of light was flooding in. I love it too! happy

I just got mine from www.myknobs.com

Someone on this board suggested them and I ended up finding what I wanted for only around 2.xx each. I needed 36 so I saved a lot compared to getting them at Lowes, especially since the only ones I liked there were speical order and they were 10 each!

If all you want to do is change the color and not necessarily the style, you could always spraypaint! I think that's definitely one of the go-to answers on this thread silly

Hey Kasey, I was wondering, I saw you are pregnant and was wondering if your dr. said it was ok for you to paint? I wanted to paint our bathroom(no windows but we have a fan and I would leave the door open) but was not sure if it was ok, and I called and asked a nurse and she said I would have to ask the Dr. that.

Or if anyone else knows the answer I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Kelly

OMG your spray painted fridge looks AWESOME!!

How did you do it with the "hardware" (handle, etc)?
And... can you tell up close that it has been painted?
AND... what kind of spray paint is it?

THANKS!!

ALSO.... has anyone ever spray painted a stove?
Our stove is NASTY on top and we aren't ready to buy a new one yet and I'd love to give it a makeover. Anyone with experience?

I had a thought about this room-sorry if someone mentioned it already....

I thought to take away the entertainment center from that wall next to the fp and put it on the wall to the right of the fp and turn your couches into an "L" keeping the one on the left wall where it is and just turning the other one off the right wall to face the fp and connect with the other couch. As for a mantle treatment...I might not touch the mantle and just put a dramatic window treatment above the arch window and have it come down to meet the top of the mantle.

Devoted Lurker here... just wanted to personally thank whomever posted the idea about the mesh shoe holder in their shower... went to Walmart this weekend, bought one and cut it in half (it was huge!), put the metal gromit deals in the side I cut and hung both up with cable ties on the towel bar in the bathtub (what is that dumb thing for anyway?)... LOVE how it makes everything so clean and organized! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!! love

I'm back with another question! I just made gorgeous aqua and chocolate brown curtains for our bedroom. My MIL is making me a quilt to match. Now I need to repaint the bedroom since the original color (a kind of purply blue) won't match. Any suggestions for a good room color? There isn't a lot of light, so nothing super dark. I just think white or off-white/beige would be way too boring for me. I'm not a fan of white.

And, if anyone has pictures of mirrors in their bathrooms that are not the plain rectangle, can you post them? I would like to replace ours, but we have only one sink, so I'm not sure how it would work. Perhaps it would be better to frame them?

Thanks!

I would do a very pale, pale aqua. Maybe find a paint strip with the aqua from your drapes, and then pick the lightest option.

I painted (not oil) while pregnant. My doc said as long as I opened windows and took breaks it was fine. But I'm slightly neurotic, so for $20 I bought this painter's "gas mask" at Lowes. I couldn't smell paint at ALL with this thing (had filters, and completely covered by nose & mouth).

For the PP wanting to frame maps....how about getting a book with maps in it for the sole purpose of cutting them out and framing them? Dh and I did that with a book about Italy, now we've got three pictures hanging in the foyer. I'm going to use the actual book as a coffee table book (after I pick up a couple more). You could do the same thing with an old calendar, frame the pictures.

***I am not color blind I have the red sheers up for privacy now until my order arrives in the next 2 days!!!

Here are my mistreatments in my living room. Was easy as pie until I had to push those bad buys into the wood and nearly lost my thumb, then almost tumbled off my couch! I ordered some roman shades off of JCPenney.com once they get here these are going in my dining room with my blue/green drapes. I will show my living room entirely when it is done. We have nothing on the walls and just a couch and fireplace in the living room now.

This is where they are going once my shades get here. I still have to paint the bottom a blue color..out with this too dark red for the small space:

Oh and on the table is my hurricane vase I got at Michael's for $3! It's glass and I put a candle and some shells inside. Dont mind the other junk I have no furniture or closets to store all the toys!

Now I need help........
we are redoing the entire kitchen and here it is so far. What do you think I should do at the top of my cabinets??? The space is so small but it looks so boring up there. My tile work isnt done at all. The hood is coming down I am getting a new range with a micro above it because the space is so tiny.

Any ideas??
The other wall is 2 windows and a radiator then the next wall is a breakfast nook in the blue pearl granite that's getting torn down.

I'm so jealous of all the kitchen on here. Mine is horrible. I want to redo the cabinets but I'm not sure what color. My appliances are white so would white cabinets look good?

The walls are also white but I'm probably going to paint them Caraway.

The barn star pics are making me laugh. Around here everyone has their barnstars outside the house. Mine is in between my 2 garage doors. It's odd to see outdoor accents on someone's wall.

The patio doors behind the ceiling fan have a similar shaped window. I'm at work, it's the best picture I have. There are two aspects to the treatment, a fabric covered piece (shirred) which mirrors the curve of the window, then a swag draped over it which also hangs down the sides. There are cellular shades to block late afternoon sunlight, the doors face west.

You can see the coordinating treatment a little better (similar, but with a straight rod) above the sink in this picture.

You could do something like this. It is window film that attaches to the window with water. They sell a lot of different patterns. They even sell one that looks like etched glass.

Renee, DH taped all the silver parts of the fridge before we painted it. He has more patience with taping, so he always gets that job. silly There are a couple of spots where I can tell close up that it's had a paint job, but they're pretty minor. Example: I sprayed too close on one side and you can see a drip. It blends in, so you really have to look for it. Most of our friends just thought we bought a new fridge until we told them we painted it. I don't recall the brand. I know we bought it at Home Depot, and it's a spray paint made for appliances - sorry I'm not much help with that. It took about four cans (I think), and we used them all.

And to the pp wondering about painting during pregnancy, my doctor said the same thing as Wiggles. As long as it's not an oil-based paint and you have a window open, go ahead. He was more concerned with me falling off a ladder or something. I painted A LOT while I was pregnant with my last two, and so far, they're fine!
