HUGS!!!

I have had 4 m/c's and after 3 you are considered a higher risk and should be sent to a specialist. I really hope your Dr sends you to a RE, you need to have some tests done to try to figure out why you are m/c'ing, so they can help you.
All my tests came back fine, the only thing we did differently with my dd was taking baby aspirin, and after 4 m/c's I now have a healthy baby!
I really hope everything works out for you, I know how hard it is, and waiting to find out if everything is ok is enough to send someone to the loony bin.
Your feelings are so familiar to me, when I was pg with my last angel I had an u/s and had to wait a week for another one to see if she was viable. That week was filled with so much emotion, I was able to remain hopeful, but it was so hard, and in the end it was all for nothing.
I truly hope your bean sticks. I can tell you that even after mmc's miracles do happen.
Take care!

PP, I hate to be the one to bring reality into this but someone has to. You just had a miscarriage a few weeks ago. You aren't even late for your period. It's possible that you aren't even pregnant. That you never were (this time) and that you are not having another miscarriage. 11 is pretty low for HCG. It could just be "left over" from the last miscarriage. Maybe you should give yourself a break with TTC. Get yourself straightened out emotionally and financially first. It does seem like the logical thing to do!

OMG, Harley_Grl! How about a little compassion? I hope to goodness you are never put in Pixie's position and on top of that, have to deal with such a rude, insensitive comment. You even edited your post. You should've deleted it!
Pixie-With that said, I had a hcg of 9 at my first blood draw. I tested positive on an target early response test, called the doc for an appt immediately, spotted frequently that night, called the after hours line in a panic (my first, Cade, was stillborn at 38 weeks so my doc was so understanding), had an appt first thing the next morning, negative POAS test but begged them to draw blood, they did but gave me my results very cautiously. I now have a 15 month old who is extremely health.
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS-
Rhonda

I certainly wasn't trying to be mean, Rhonda. I was being honest. Everyone is all "oh good luck, sticky dust, blah, blah, blah" Well, she just had a miscarriage a few weeks ago. She needs to lay off of TTC. IF she did have a m/c in September and Feb, her body needs a break physically. Her heart and mind need one emotionally. Not to mention the financial situation she is in. I think she needs to get on some birth control so she doesn't have to worry about this all the time! Besides, she hasn't even missed her period yet!

*ducking* But ITA GrammerRammer. She needs to give her body a break, it can't be good for her OR a baby to have back to back pregnancies w/ miscarriages. She needs to use some bc for a bit and try again if she really wants to in a few months at least!

Unfortunately, the only thing that will give you the real answers you want is time. I know it's hard to wait, but testing over and over again isn't going to confirm or disprove anything. If you are having a m/c you will have it. No matter what your levels are. Same thing with a baby that sticks. It will stick, no matter how many tests you take. Try to relax and just breathe. All of this stress isn't good.
Do something fun to take your mind off of it.
Hope it works out the way you want it to.
Take it easy on yourself.

I am gonna duck too, but I agree with Harley grl. A break would be good. A doc doesn't even consider a pg unless the HCG is over 25 AND doubles in 48 hours. 11.1 HCG would also not show up on ANY pg test. And 9 HCG would definitely NOT show up. i don't care how you wanna look at it.
I hope she gets the answer that she wants, but I would wait to say anything else about it. most people with a history of M/C even hold off on telling family until the point of M/C has past, which is usually 12 weeks.

A break would be best, but this it not your body. Who are you to be mean? If you don't want to be supportive, just let it go. Clearly, she's had a few m/c in the past and knows what she is up against. Also, if you read all her posts you would have seen that she's taken pregnancy tests since her m/c and they all came back negative.*sigh*Hope you are doing ok!!!

Not all doctors have this theory. All the fertility doctors I have seen consider anything over a 5 a positive. It does not need to double every 48 hours but every 48-72 hours.
Don't give up hope OP. Try to relax.

wow, well, yeah, sinc eyou have no idea about my situation, you really need to MYOB, My first loss was not a miscarriage, it wa sa molar pregnancy, then in october there was an issue with teh baby. My DR encvouraged me to TTC as SOON as I felt ready to.

I only have 5 years left to have children, and we do not believe in birth control, we are roman catholic. I was only on it before to prevent the resurfacing of a molar pregnancy. I know this pregnancy and teh last from february are not related, hormone wise.

You woudl know about zero about our financial postion right now as well, so in all honesty STFU if you dont have something nice to say, really.

FOr anyone that cares, my bleeding has substansially slowed down and my HCG was 11.8 to, up from 11.1 but still not where we want it to be, I am 13 DPO they said to not give up hope yet, but it could go either way and i get another draw on monday.

How is saying 48-72 hours any different than what I said. And a regular doc would not consider 11.1 HCG a pg. She has never mentioned seeing a fertility doc.

Well, I do know that you are on public aid. I know that your H lost his job. I know that you were unable to feed your family so some very generous women on your birth board gave you some money. I also know that you then adopted a kitten. I also know that you really need to learn to keep your lies straight!!

"How is saying 48-72 hours any different than what I said. And a regular doc would not consider 11.1 HCG a pg. She has never mentioned seeing a fertility doc."
It is different because you said it has to double every 48 hours but it does not have to it could double every 70 hours and she would still be in the recommended time frame.
With my last pregnancy my first beta was 18.99, not 25 and my regular doctor considered me pregnant.
I mentioned the fertility doctor part because that is what most fertility doctors consider a positive. I have never had that low of a beta to have to ask if my regular doctor considers anything over a five a positive.

Heather I called to check on you, I was worried since we haven't heard anything.
On that note I'm a little upset about what you just posted about your first pg. I told you about my loss at 18 weeks and you told me that you also lost a baby then. How is it that your first was a molar pg that lasted 18 weeks? I really would like to know because it's making me feel like a complete @ss that I confided that in you and thought I was talking to someone that had been through that before. You have even posted about that on here before so I know I'm not crazy. I'm floored that anyone would lie about losing a child that far along.
Please explain this, I really would like to know. It seems like 2 different stories to me.

Heather,If you don't mind me asking (and you can honestly tell me to MMOB if you want), why do you only have 5 years left to have children? Just curious, because I see that you are still quite young. But if you don't feel like sharing, that's totally fine. And I DO hope for the baby and pregnancy to be healthy, honestly I do!!! I was so excited to read your posts saying you were pregnant! But I think that the intent of the pps who told you to take it slow was NOT to rain on your parade, so to speak, but rather to caution you that there *is* a possibility, no matter how slight, that you could be getting your hopes up for nothing, especially in light of your past miscarriages. That being said, no one knows your body better than you, your DH, and your doc, so if he/she gave you the go-ahead to ttc and he/she thinks you are pregnant, then that's the word to go by! Honestly, I think all of us hope that there IS a healthy baby in there, and I would LOVE to read your birth story in December or so!!!! Still sending TONS of sticky, healthy baby dust your way!!!!

Harley_grl: you had me until the last post.
PiercedPixie: You just had a m/c in Feb (right?) & have had them before. I've had 2 m/c BACK TO BACK ...and while I wanted desperately wanted another baby, I was also told by my doctor to "give my body a rest" and up my suppliments (folic acid, multi-vitamins, etc.). That's what alot of posters are thinking.
We all want you to have what you want...but like I posted last night, I hope you can rest the entire weekend & come back to post on Monday.

This is my POV, as well. It only feeds into the obsession/panic/desperation of the situation when people recommend she go to the ER, change OBs - one who will 'do the right thing' by giving medication her regular OB won't recommend, etc, etc, etc. She's not even late for her period yet.
OP, I understand how you must be so eager and desperate for a healthy pregnancy and baby- you've clearly had a struggle with pregnancies. Going through this over and over cannot be easy. I've had a miscarriage and I definitely know that feeling of wanting to make sure things are ok as soon as possible.
Best of luck

Actually, with one of my pregnancies, I got a BFP on a DIGITAL test at 10 DPO. I went to the doc and my Hcg was only 6! 6! I never would have believed if it didn't happen to me. Pregnancy tests in this day and age are a lot more sensitive.
Unfortunately, my levels never got past 10 and it was classified as a chemical pregnancy or a VERY early miscarriage. But my OB (who is a regular doctor) considers anything over 5 to be some sort of pregnancy. Women just usually do not carry any amount over 5 in their system unless they are pg or have recently had a m/c (and usually the #s are back to zero two weeks or so after a m/c unless their is some lingering material causing it to not go down.) I was even testing negative two weeks after a m/c that I had at 11 weeks (even being that far along into a seemingly normal pregnancy.)
If the OP has been testing negative on tests for two weeks now, and then all of a sudden started testing positive, then something is definitely up.
And I agree that a break after a m/c is a good idea, this is what my doctor says and I agree. Sometimes the uterine lining is just not ready to take on another pregnancy so soon after. However what's done is done and at this point I think the only appropriate thing to do is to offer prayers and good thoughts to this woman. If this pregnancy pans out, she is still going to be scared and need some reassurance to get through the next few weeks. If it turns out to be a m/c, then she is going to need some support.
OP, I am sorry to hear that your numbers didn't go up very much. But don't give up hope just yet. Lots of hugs and prayers coming your way.

I'm sorry but I also don't think Harley_Grl is being mean at all. She is being realistic and her post was in no way snarky or sarcastic or underhanded. Why give OP false hope. You are just contributing to OP getting all worked up since she is still so raw from her last mc. It's a horrible thing to go through.I know the pain of infertility. I read into every sign I *might* be pregnant. I poured over every evapo line. If my period was weird I thought it might be a mc but in the end it was always just my period.Telling OP to go to the emergency room and hound the doctor is not going to make the outcome any different. It is just going to leave her with a huge bill that she is going to have to pay. She might not even be pregnant to begin with since her AF isn't due for, what, another week?

An hCG level of less than 5mIU/ml is considered negative for pregnancy, and anything above 25mIU/ml is considered positive for pregnancy.
Straight from a doctors board. It is not considered positive until after 25 mIU/ml. So whatever...and it is supposed to double every 48 to 72 hours. So You are right and I am right.

Ok I wasn't saying the post about giving her body a break was mean, I completely agreed with that. It was just everything afterwards.
I don't know the whole story, I'm pretty new to this board and am just getting to where I recognize some of the people who post. So after saying that I'm just going to shut up!

Just curious--my friend had a molar pg, and had to wait a year to TTC again, and had to have blood tests every month to make sure that there was no related malignancy. Your doc gave you the all clear to TTC already?

If less than 5 is negative and more than 25 is positive then what is 11??? A maybe??I agree that it is not mean to advise her to give her body a rest. However, you ALL know that harley_girl's post WAS meant to be snarky. She knows that too.I don't know what facts aren't adding up or any of the back story other than a couple of days ago. All I know is there is a woman who is in a situation that I have been in many times and I just wanted to offer my words of support. How sad that this thread took such a turn.

Mine was a suspected partial molar and while I was waiting for the results, everything I read said the same thing about waiting a year for a complete molar pg. I think partial molar you had to wait at least 6 months.

Then maybe you should re-read it.Or maybe you and Harley_Girl should read this:
Tact is a careful consideration of one's current situation and surroundings, and acting accordingly.
For example, with respect to interpersonal relationships, tact is a careful consideration of the feelings and values of another so as to create harmonious relationships with a reduced potential for conflict or offense.

I think what they were getting at was that it would be absolutely devastating to your uterus to have a molar pg last 18 weeks (is that even possible?), and then give birth less than 1 year later.

A molar pregnancy doesn't develop a heartbeat. They would have been looking for a heartbeat around 12 weeks. When they couldn't find it, why did they let you go another 6 weeks?
I call BS.

On that note, hold the drama. I have to go get hubs but I will be back in less than an hour!

While everywhere I read does mention molar pregnancies, or symptoms of, occuring before 20 weeks, it does seem highly odd that there wasn't concern earlier on when the norm is to listen to the h/b at 12 weeks...And, according to this doctor, follow up is critical to mom's health as well as health of future pregnancies:
http://www.obgyn.net/women/women.asp?page=/women/articles/molarpreg_dah
Follow-upAfter evacuating a molar pregnancy it is critically important that the patient see her doctor frequently, as molar pregnancies can recur. Follow-up usually consists of a baseline chest x-ray, review of the pathology specimen, physical examination of the vagina and uterus every 2 weeks until the uterus returns to normal then every 3 months for a year, contraception like the pill or shot with no attempt to become pregnant for 1 year, and, most importantly, weekly HCG blood levels until zero then every month for a year. As one can see, this involves a lot of trips to the lab and the doctor’s office! This is important because molar pregnancies can “come back” even after a thorough D&C. When they come back the patient may need chemotherapy to prevent the microscopic placental cells from spreading to other organs like cancer. Fortunately, this only occurs in about 20% of complete molar pregnancies; it is even more uncommon with partial molar pregnancies. Many women are frustrated when their doctor recommends waiting one year to become pregnant. This is actually important, because a rise in HCG levels may indicate a normal pregnancy when the patient is trying to get pregnant, or a recurrent molar pregnancy, which requires chemotherapy. To avoid this confusion we ask for a 1 year period without becoming pregnant.

For some reason I remember OP having some drama not too long ago...however take that with a grain of salt because I cannot find any threads to prove it. So I think harly_grl may be on to something. Things do not add up with OP. Perhaps the grammer rammer/harly girl was wrong in her troll post earlier but if what she is saying about the OP is true...I consider OP the worst kind of troll. :(

I am sorry OP that your levels only went from 11.1 to 11.8, if I read that correct. I would of expected them to be at least to 22. ME personally would not accept that very well.
As for others that were saying 48 to 72 hours to double. It only goes to 72 hours after it gets to a certain number than they accept 72 hr doubling time ok. At least that is what my ob says when I was going through my issues.
I pray that you will get great numbers on monday.

I don't know, maybe I am alone in my view, but I think that everyone has their own life. If PiercedPixie wants to try and get pregnant, or shave her head, or whatever the hell else she wants to do......her original post was only to ask for thoughts and prayers. To the best of my knowledge it is none of anyone else's business if it is the right time to try, too early, too later or whatever the hell you are all arguing about. I don't think the best thing to say is "well, yes, in my opinion, you should do this or that" or "you must be on public assistance, you horrible person" WTF??????I think that maybe we should all take a deep breath, and just give the woman what she asked, thoughts and prayers. If you don't want to give positive......then move on. It seems to me that there are too many people flapping their jaws....or hands......that maybe don't know how it feels to be in her situation. So maybe she gave a few different accounts of things.......who hasn't??? Things can be difficult......she isn't asking you to 'sponsor' a child.....not asking for a food drive........seriously......let.....it....go.

I think that she is just seeking attention but going about it in the wrong way. She isn't keeping things straight. I also don't think that I am the only one who feels that way about her!Ha. this is too funny, lol

I'm a lurker but I just have to say I have never been here for the real live drama before - this is like a soap opera - I am so confused about who is who - but I love it.
By the way OP I hope that you really are pregnant and everything works out - I recently had a chemical pregnancy (which I didn't know was another name for M/C) and it sucks!
Please continue with the Drama

I'm not this Grammer person, but hey, let's just get it out there....
Here is what I think... I'm not being mean, I'm not bashing, I'm simply calling BS.
Wow! Is it too late to call BS on the BS??? Wouldn't that be double BS??? I guess a bit of fibbing about not hiding behind a random screen name????

Okay, I'm not usually one to question people - but if your dates are all true according to your siggie and posts on this thread:*Lost Amelia on 5/24/04 at 18 weeks due to molar pregnancy*Delivered Avalon on 5/6/05*Delivered Scarlet on 6/14/06*Lost Oskar on 10/16/07*Lost AngelBaby on 2/10/08*Now PG and definitely at risk of losing again with those numbersI'd be really worried about the medical knowledge and techinical skills of your OB. To get pregnant with Avalon less than 3 months after a 18 weeks-gestation molar pregnancy is asking for MAJOR problems by itself, let alone a repeat performance 4 months later with Scarlett, followed by 2-3 more miscarriages/losses in 16 months is really in bad form. I am astounded that anyone would put their body through that - given how serious the repercussions of a reoccurrence of a molar pregnancy can be. I remember in one of the other threads in the last few days you mentioned that you had been TTC another baby since 2006... you REALLY REALLY need to give your body a break. It's screaming back at you that it's not ready! From another wanna-be mommy with infertility and 2 losses...

So we are all supposed to give OP hope that she is pregnant and tell her only positive stories and tell her everything is going to work out and be okay even if many of us know the harsh realities of the trials and tribulations of trying to conceive a child because it isn't tactful to be realistic and know that not everything in life works out the way you want it to?

A molar pregnancy doesn't develop a heartbeat. They would have been looking for a heartbeat around 12 weeks. When they couldn't find it, why did they let you go another 6 weeks?
I call BS. Exactly.Since we are pulling info, this is from WebMD:
What is a molar pregnancy?
A molar pregnancy is a mass of tissue (hydatidiform mole) that forms an abnormal placenta inside the uterus. It starts from two or three sets of the father's chromosomes, with none from the mother.1 Even though it is not an embryo, a mole triggers symptoms of pregnancy. About 1 out of 1,000 women with early pregnancy symptoms has a molar pregnancy.2
There are two types of molar pregnancy: complete and partial.
Complete molar pregnancy. In place of a normal placenta and embryo, the hydatidiform mole is abnormal placental tissue that grows into a grapelike cluster that can fill the uterus.
Partial molar pregnancy. The placenta grows abnormally into molar tissue. Any fetal tissue that develops is likely to have severe defects.
In extremely rare cases, an apparent twin pregnancy is found to be one complete mole and one normal, healthy placenta and fetus.3
What kind of risks are related to a molar pregnancy?
A hydatidiform mole can cause heavy bleeding from the uterus.
Some molar pregnancies lead to abnormal cell growth called gestational trophoblastic disease.
About 15% to 20% of complete molar pregnancies develop trophoblastic disease that keeps growing after the molar pregnancy is removed. A small percentage of these may become invasive cancer.4, 5 Fortunately, nearly 100% of those women who develop cancer are cured with treatment.2
About 5% of partial molar pregnancies develop trophoblastic disease.5
In rare cases, the abnormal tissue can spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body.
How is a molar pregnancy diagnosed?
If you have symptoms that suggest a molar pregnancy, your health professional will do some simple tests. A pelvic exam, a blood test of your pregnancy hormone (human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG) levels, and a pelvic ultrasound can confirm whether you have a molar pregnancy.
Molar pregnancy may also be found during a routine ultrasound in early pregnancy. Partial molar pregnancies are often found at the time of treatment for an incomplete miscarriage.
How is a molar pregnancy treated?
If you are diagnosed with a molar pregnancy, you will need immediate treatment to remove all molar growth from your uterus. After your uterus is cleared of molar tissue, you will have periodic hCG blood tests to screen for signs of persistent cell growth (trophoblastic disease) in your uterus. These tests are done periodically for 6 to 12 months.
Some women with a molar pregnancy also have a large ovarian cyst (not cancerous).
In some cases, trophoblastic disease can develop into trophoblastic cancer. But most cases are identified early, located in the uterus only, and are highly curable with chemotherapy. In the rare case when cancer has had time to spread to another part of the body, more aggressive chemotherapy is necessary, sometimes combined with radiation treatment.
Most women who have been treated for trophoblastic disease are still able to become pregnant.1
After having a molar pregnancy, it is common to feel grief over losing a pregnancy and to be fearful about cancer risk. Consider contacting a support group or talking to friends, a counselor, or a religious advisor to help you and your family deal with this difficult time.

I have reported this thread to community. I really can't believe some of you would come on this type of thread and start attacking Heather. I really don't care what the circumstances are, what her financial status is or anything else, it is just wrong. If you don't won't to blow her kisses and sunshine up her butt, then just don't post. Some may be treading on thin ice with doing this three times today.
